Introduce unscented litter in small changes while keeping the box familiar. Use actual urination, bowel movements, and changes in box behavior to decide whether to increase the new litter, step back, or seek veterinary advice.

Unscented cat litter can contain ingredients used for odor control, including baking soda. Those ingredients serve a different purpose from added perfume, and unscented does not mean additive-free.

An unscented label means perfume is absent, not that urine and poop odor control is established. Absorption, removable waste, and deodorizing ingredients describe different roles, while a formula's actual result remains uncertain from the label alone.
